Model instead of medical doctor

I have a high school daughter who is very bright, i would like her to be a medical doctor and i am sure she is capable of that but for some time now we have been on loggerheads because she tells me she wants to be a model, i don’t want this for my only daughter, what should i do to convince her?

First of all you have got to be calm while discussing this with your daughter, show her that you value her choices and create an atmosphere where you can talk on a friendly basis. Find out from her why she would prefer being a model and why she doesn’t want to be a doctor, and then ask her what her second option would be apart from modeling, it might be easier to convince her into that than being a doctor. Give her your reasons of wanting her to be a doctor, making sure that you help her understand that it is all for her good and not for you. Tell her to take time to think about it and give her time too. Just make sure you don’t push her around because if you do, she will want to prove that she is old enough to make her own choices.
