I want to know whether it is profitable to write for free article sites. can any one name me some good sites for article writing except knoll? I mean like article directories?

I want to suggest you that it is profitable if you are promoting other websites and would like to build back links for them. If your articles are search engine optimized, they can get picked up easily by the people. The back links, through your signatures, will then send back traffic to your sites. If you keep on writing and sending back links to a certain website, it is possible that such a site will become prominent in search engine results. If it stays at page one, you can try to make money with AdSense ads and affiliate products. But you must first learn how to optimize your articles for search engines like Google. Also, it won't be profitable in terms of revenue but self-contribution. Also, I recommend, BlogSpot is good way to start and become a real journalist.
