The kids have now left the house and I would like to find jobs as an administrative assistant or maybe doing clerical work.

Before you start looking for jobs as an administrative assistant or to work a clerical job, you should check out if you have all the right qualifications. Most office jobs nowadays require knowledge of some software programs, for instance Microsoft Office. If you have been gone too long, you might need to take a crash course in Excel or Word so that you are more marketable. Once you are more confident that you have the required updated skills, you can apply in just about any place you can think of. Hospitals, factories, schools, libraries, the post office, they all need people that can do administrative or clerical work. Check out the local workforce service or a faith based organization for information on job options in your area.
