What is app store, how does it work and where can someone get this application and at how much in terms of cost?

App store is a service designed to enable users to browse and download applications from the iTunes store to the iphone or iPod Touch. It is also available within iTunes. At the beginning there were some problems with app store because it was released at a time when touch software version 2.0 was not available but later last year iphone OS 2.0 was introduced and applications were able to be transferred since then.
