What does ad exchange do and what are the available ad exchanges to date and who are the owners now?

Ad exchange is basically a technology platform for buying and selling online ads, there is nothing really more than this. The major ad exchanges are AdECN which was purchased and is owned by Microsoft for two years now, there is also Right Media, and this one was purchased and is owned by Yahoo!, it is also two years since Yahoo! purchased it. And there is also Double Click ad exchange which is owned by Double Click which is a Google subsidiary; it was also purchased about two years ago. The newest of these is AdECN of Microsoft.
