After paying for the product, how do we know where the package is? How can we find out the status of the package? Is it possible to track the location of the product after it has been posted?

Being able to track the location or status of the parcel depends on which company is doing the delivery service. The good ones like the FedEx or the UPS give you a tracking code which is to be used on the web site or when you call them to inquire about its location. Every parcel has its own code and unless you have the code you cannot find out the status of the parcel. Not all postal service companies have such a facility. These companies might charge a bit more but if you need to know the information then you better ask the seller to send it through such company.
