Yoga for muscular pain?

I have been having pain in the back for quite a while and the doctor said it’s a muscular strain. Some of my friends suggested yoga to be a solution. Would that be good for me?

AnswerSome neurologists that I have known over the years are completely against yoga despite giving people great flexibility. One of them quoted as saying “Keeping the joints straight and bending the straight parts in angles it is not supposed to bend is yoga.” However hilarious it might sound, there is some amount of truth. Usually, yoga helps in enhancing the flexibility of an already good body than healing the pain of an ailment. I would suggest you to give time to rest your back take physiotherapy sessions than go to yoga classes since the physiotherapy teaches fortification exercises and helps get back the original movements.
