Answers to : body mass index...
AnswerThis give you a body mass index (BMI) of 75.7 kg / (1.73 m)^2 = 25.3
According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), that would make you overweight, but only by about 2 pounds (the WHO cuts it at 25). In other words, lose 2 pounds, and the WHO will say your weight is normal.
But the BMI is fuzzy science: for instance, if you are under 20 or if you carry most South East Asian genes, the cutoff for "normal" will be different. This cutoff is established in regard with the fact that doctors us BMI to establish diagnostics (such as bulimia and annorexia) and, most important, see it as a risk factor for things such as diabetes and strokes.
If your goal is to stay healthy, being so slightly overweight doesn't pose much risk. In fact, all in all, at least one study showed that overweight people (with BMIs between 25 and 30) have better life expectancy than people with normal weight. What does pose risks, however, is playing yoyo with the scale. Therefore, taking good habits and trying to keep your weight should be essential.
Finally, if you want to *look* fit, BMI is not the way to go. You should rather trust your eyes, and keep in mind that all tastes are in nature.
