There are a few ways to save money and create an emergency fund. First, I suggest you to record all your expenses in a booklet. At the end of the week, you'll see what your unecessary expenses are. After you found what your extra expenses are, try to cut on some of them if it is possible.
Here are a few tricks that may help cut on your expenses and put money aside:
-If you have more than a bank account, I suggest you to keep only one since bank fees are quite expensive which can represents an expense of $300 per year for each account.
-If you have a credit card, try to pay the entire balance at the end of the month to avoid paying interest. You'll save a lot.
-Brown bag your lunch at work and bring your coffee in a thermos instead of buying these items at the restaurant and you'll save $2 per day on your coffee. That means an economy of $500 a year. For your lunch, the $10 a day you spend on it represents an expense of $2500 per year.
-Also, remember that grocery coupons can make you save as much as $10 per week and put around $500 in your pocket at the end of the year.
-You can also choose to save a fixed amount and invest it in Canadian bounds every week. Ask your employer to take it directly from your paycheck and you will accumulate a nice amount of money at the end of the year without feeling deprived.
