I’m a house wife and i’m contemplating on taking a course on insurance to equip myself enter insurance marketing industry. I do not have a clue on insurance and hope someone in this forum will be able to help me understand the concept of insurance.

Insurance involves an individual or an organization wishing to insure a risk that something may or may not happen. The principal of insurance is sharing of risk.
Risk is differentiated as ‘life’ and ‘Non life’ which includes wide variety of risk which can be insured against. For example, death, accident, fire, theft etc.
The risk is insured by paying a fee or premium to insurer. Normally, the premium amount depends on the size of the risk assessment. Usually the greater the risk higher is the premium. Once the risk is assessed the individual is issued a policy which explains the terms and conditions of the insurance.
