I was reading the newspaper today and press notes on lotto 649 caught my attention. Is it a national lottery of canada

Lotto 649 is one the national lotteries of Canada. It is managed and operated by Interprovincial Lottery Corporation [ILC] in Ontario, Canada.
It was initiated in 1982 as the first national lottery game. It is also the first to allow players to choose their own numbers. This effectively made earlier system of serial numbers printed on lottery tickets obsolete.
The interesting part in this lottery is that 6 numbers are drawn from a lot of 49 [hence, 6/49]. If the ticket matches all 6 numbers, then it bags the first prize and if it matches 5 and an additional bonus number, it stands to win the second prize. Lesser prizes are also there depending upon how many numbers have been matched. You can get more info at –
