If you do not wish to use your Facebook account any more, two options are available. You can simply deactivate your account. To do so, select the tab "Settings" at the top right next to the "Logout" button and then click the last option "Deactivate account ". On the next page, answer some questions Facebook asks you and then click " to Deactivate my account ". This way, nobody will have access to your information anymore, but Facebook will still keep them.
So if you wish to reopen your account, you will not have to re-join, you can simply reactivate it.
If you wish to delete your account definitively, the procedure is a little more complex.
Go in the "Help" section, the link at the bottom of the page. Under the section " Using Facebook", click "Privacy". On the following page, select "FAQ" then in the last questions, choose " I definitively want to delete my account ". The answer will appear and you can click the text " this form ". On the next page, click "Submit" and it’s all done !
